Debunking “Electability”- Voting Your Principles: by Stan Crenshaw

The 2012 elections are the most critical of my 58 years on this earth. They are shaping up to be a direct battle to decide which direction this country will take- European socialism or the distinctly American representative republic. In no election cycle in my lifetime have the battle lines been more clearly and distinctly drawn and the two directions represented so starkly by the two parties. So for those of us who choose the American Republic based on our Constitution, the Republican Party must be our fighting force. There is no other political unit available with the structure, resources, and clout to fight this battle.

Over the course of the next ten months we must choose which of the eight candidates who have stepped up to take on the socialist Goliath, with Barack Obama sitting on his shoulder and whispering in his ear, will be sent out to fight him.

As the candidates stepped forward and took their place the murmur of “electable” began spreading through the media and the pundithood. The definition of “electable” began forming and shaping and took its form as thus- “The nominee must be middle of the road enough not to scare the undecided and the independent away.” When combined with the hue and cry of “Extreme” and “Intransigent” from the media and the liberal caretakers of Goliath ( I know, redundant!) the net result has been “Tea Partiers and true Conservatives need not apply.”

Thanks for that wonderful article. I am carrying it to other forums. I'm sick of people talking about electability.

I like his theme and his assessment. I'm not ready to pick one yet but "electability " to me means the one we can get behind as a movement. The pundits and "experts" don't get a vote. It is our job to spread the word to everyone we can reach that it is up to each of us, one at a time, to determine who we will resolutely back and we must, MUST ignore the noise. Choose well.

Well golly jeeperz whiz Wally, what is the difference between electable and the choices at hand?
Gosh Beave I don't know, but I'm surely gonna vote for the one that is gonna get elected!

Thank you June and Ward for your gift of ignorance.

Here is the real POOP!
There are seven(7) people left in the GOP that are seeking to live in the White House.

Of those 7, Romney, Gingrich, and Huntsman should be immediately discarded, Bachman and Santorum should be the top tier, with Perry as a distant consideration, and Dr. Paul as a last resort.

Now, these are the people that have stepped forward who desire to be the next CinC/CEO of this country.

Tell me again JUST HOW MANY CHOICES I HAVE!!

No, for sure we do not have to succumb to the MSM choice.

Yet we must all hang together, for seperately we all shall surely hang.

The time for choosing is NOW, for if democracy has its way we shall founder.
Without the hearts and minds of men, there is nothing
...refuse to willingly submit to illegal usurpation of power by the Central Government.

Hate to sound like a broken record but this is the primary. Vote your heart, soul and conscience, not electability. That is what we were doing with Mr Cain. Nothing really has changed in that regard or has it?

If enough would vote for the candidate that most resembles them then perhaps you will get the candidate you deserve!

It is critical that TP people get behind either Bachmann or Santorum BEFORE the primaries begin. Why? Because the ONE with the strongest showing in the very beginning will start getting the big bucks from contributors. Money is supreme in this campaign. I think Santorum is already hanging by a thread financial, and maybe Bachmann too. We need to start sending our itsy bitsy contributions to one of them. Organizational expenses are very high. They cannot hang on forever without our help.

That's true, Kroz. If they can't survive past Iowa or the upcoming primaries in January we're the ones who lose by the limited number of choices. Our votes won't be based on who we think is the best option, but on who had the money to survive. Something I had not yet considered.

I've been told on Twitter if supporters don't start backing Santorum he may not be a choice for us to vett, however, it seems he is picking up momentum since Cain's departure.

This is how I see it as well. For me, it's a choice between three. Bachmann, Santorum or Perry and not necessarily in that order. Still undecided but working on a decision.

Well, I'm torn between Bachmann and Santorum. I really like them both. I may send them both money until I decide. (I got over my momentary stroll through Paul's camp. )
